Recent NJ Laws 2025

Minimum wage increase: As of January 1, 2025, the minimum wage for most employees increased to $15.49 per hour.

Pay transparency: Employers with 10 or more employees must disclose the hourly wage or annual salary range and general benefits in all job postings, effective June 1, 2025.

Data privacy: The New Jersey Data Protection Act took effect on January 15, 2025, giving consumers new rights over their personal data and imposing obligations on businesses that collect it.

Retirement plans: Under RetireReady NJ, employers with 25 or more employees who don’t offer a retirement plan were required to register by November 15, 2024, to facilitate employee retirement savings.

Domestic workers’ rights: Since July 1, 2024, a bill has granted domestic workers new protections, including rights to a contract, minimum wage, overtime pay, and meal and rest breaks.
